ALBION suffered a derby-day nightmare as a second-half collapse plunged them to the foot of the table ahead of Saturday's home game with joint leaders Arbroath.
After a tight first half of few chances, Jocky Scott's side fell apart after conceding the opening goal to Stewart Kean in 54 minutes. Ross McMillan and Brown Ferguson were on target before Kean completed the rout to keep the Warriors in third place, five points off the pace.
This was Albion's biggest defeat to their near neighbours since a 5-1 battering at Ochilview in March 1971, a season that included a 7-0 defeat to Dumbarton and a 6-5 reverse against Clydebank despite the Binos finishing in mid-table obscurity in the old Second Division.
They would certainly settle for that now. A run of four straight defeats with no goals scored and a sequence of just one win in 10 games since the campaign began so promisingly with back-to-back victories over East Fife and Dumbarton points to a long winter.
