No matter how hard weâve tried, we canât seem to rid this wonderful city of those darned demonstrators who aggressively wave anti-Bashar al-Assad flags and call for theâ¦um⦠ârightsââI think is the word they useâof Syrians and other American, Israeli, European mumbo-jumbo. Well theyâre âwrongsââsorry, I crack myself up sometimes.
But seriously, those protesters are like flag-waving, placard-holding jack-in-a-boxes: No matter how much we try to keep them down, they just pop up again.
So today you are going to meet some of the men who bravely protect Bashar al-Assadâs name on the Lebanese streets. Ladies and gentlemen, I am going to take you to meet the unsung heroes who keep the streets clean of anti-Assad rubbish: the Beirut shabiha. Yalla, letâs begin.
