Woman charged with theft of necklaces from 4 St. Paul children
She befriended families and their children.
Then she took the kids' gold chains worth hundreds of dollars right off their necks.
In one case, she said she needed the money so she could see her own children.
Those are among details in criminal complaints charging Tria Moua, 26, in Ramsey County District Court with theft and false imprisonment at three different St. Paul locations.
Moua, who has no known address, appeared in court today in connection with Friday's alleged theft. Bail was set at $25,000. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday afternoon in the other cases.
"We are very concerned at both the nature and the escalation of this crime spree and are pleased that the St. Paul police were able to get her off the street and protect the public," said Ramsey County Attorney John Choi. "Her actions endangered several children and caused great distress to their parents.
